By default blender opens in the layout workspace with a 3D view-port , outliner, properties and timeline areas. This is because this is the default layout of the start-up file blender uses when opening blender or opening a new file. You can change the default layout of blender and save it so that blender always opens with your desired layout. How to save your layout will be explained at the bottom of this page.

Assign the asset browser to a area

We will showcase two options to assign an area to be the asset browser

Option 1:

  • Click on the most left icon on the timeline toolbar.

  • Select the Asset Browser

Option 2:

  • Right click the timeline toolbar ( or any other area)

  • Choose vertical split

  • Move your mouse to the middle of the area and press the left mouse button

  • The area should now be split in to two similar areas.

  • Choose on of the areas and go to the most left icon.

  • Choose the asset browser

Selecting Libraries

The asset browser should appear and you are now ready to start syncing assets. You can select the UniBlend_Demo from the dropdown menu on the left.

Save Layout as startup file

To save the current layout so that blender always opens with the asset browser and UniBlend_Demo as its default go to the top left menu of blender File>Defaults>Save Startup File

Jump to Save startup
Blender default startup
